Chuck E. Cheese, Haircuts, & Trains

The title of this blog pretty much speaks for itself. I'll try to make it short seeing that alot been's going on. My mom and dad came down last Thursday just to spend some time with us, well mainly Wesley:) We went to the mall and rode the choo choo train. They only have it at christmas. It just goes around the mall a few times honking at whoever gets in the way. Some people love to take their time getting out of the way. We also tried the whole sit in santa's lap thing but it didn't work. Wesley was just too scared of this strange looking man with a bunch of white hair on his face. Santa even tried to bribe him with candy, but it didn't work. Maybe next year. Then, we went to Chuck E Cheese for dinner. It's also in the mall. Wesley's favorite thing there to ride was the swing thing that goes around and around. He still won't ride the car and tractor rides there but will get on them at other places. Go figure. Then, we went on to the parks at chehaw. It's this place here in Albany where you can go camping, go to a zoo, and a bunch of other stuff. They have a christmas display of lights at christmastime, and you guessed it, another train ride! This is when the weather was still pretty mild, so it was nice.

Sunday night, our church went caroling and we went to a few nursing homes. Well, Wesley was in wheelchair heaven. He is fascinated with wheelchairs. The reason is b/c there is a man, Mr. John, from our church who's in a wheelchair. We pick him up alot for church and when he's in his wheelchair, Wesley loves to get behind and push it. And he has pushed it into things before with John in it, (i.e., the wall, table, people)hence the name"wheelchair heaven." So, we have to really watch him around wheelchairs. Go and hide your wheelchairs:)

We took Wesley today to get his haircut. For every professional haricut he's had so far, he's been real good. Of course, he won't sit by himself yet so he sits in my lap. He just sits there and plays with the toys they give him to play with. Hopefully, he'll always be a good haircut patient.

Well, we are leaving on christmas day to go up to tennessee to spend several days with mark's family. His mom(nana),dad(pops),and brother Michael will all be there and maybe his grandparents(mamaw and papaw). His brother Michael will be going back to Iraq in february for about a year so plase remember him in your prayers. Hope everyone has a merry christmas!

First Burn

This morning when Wesley woke up, he was pretty stuffy and congested. He tossed and turned all last night and now I know why. Poor little man had a stuffy nose. Well, I gave him some medicine so hopefully he will sleep better tonight. Then, later during the day, I was making a recipe called "pecan crispies." We have a pecan tree in the front lawn of our church and have alot of pecans that I want to use. They were good by the way. After I had baked them, I turned the oven off. Wesley, as one of the previous picture posts shows, he likes to open up the oven. Well, he opened it up and when I looked over there, it was too late. He had touched it with both of his little hands. He cried for about an hour straight. I ran his hands under cold water, sprayed some kind of burn spray on it, but he was still crying. Finally, I started pulling him around on the blanket on the floor, which he loves, and that calmed him down. At his bedtime, he'll usually lay there in his crib for a little bit and look at his book on his own and soothe himself to sleep. Well, tonight, he was immediately out. He was so sleepy. Notice the burn on his hand in the picture. His left hand is worse than his right. One of the pictures is of the christmas parade we went to Saturday night. Hannah, age 9, a girl from our church whom Wesley just loves, went with us. He seemed to enjoy it for about 35 to 40 minutes and then was ready to run out in the street and be a part of it all. He does not like sitting for long periods of time. So, we didn't get to see all of it, but that was ok. We had fun anyway. The other pictures are just random pictures.

Last night we went to this big christmas concert they have here in Albany every year called "The Peppermint Pops." It's in an arena and we thought it would be best to sit at the bottom of one of the upper levels, (don't worry the walls were high enough where Wesley couldn't fall over)instead of sitting in the middle of the folding chair seats where he could fall over the chairs. Well, as the band was playing, Wesley was really having a good time dancing. He was holding on to the concrete walls jumping up and down, the same wall just moments before he threw his thomas train over and mark had to go get. Thankfully, it didn't hit anyone down below. I was sure he would hit his mouth on it and he eventually did, except it was his forehead/eye. He started crying so we just left. It ended up not being bad at all. But, we enjoyed the short time we were there anyway, especially seeing Wesley having such a good time. I wouldn't trade these moments for anything. I thank the Lord that he has allowed me to be a mother.
